Biography

Dr. Shengquan Chen is currently a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the School of Mathematical Sciences and the Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies, Nankai University. He also serves as a National Young Changjiang Scholar and a member of the Nankai 100 Young Academic Leaders programNankai University is a world-renowned institution with a century-long heritage, particularly distinguished for its global leadership in mathematical sciences. It is the home of the Chern Institute of Mathematics, founded by the legendary mathematician Shiing-Shen Chern, cementing Nankai’s status as a premier global hub for high-level mathematical research and education.


His academic trajectory is marked by exceptional performance: he completed his Ph.D. at Tsinghua University ahead of schedule in December 2021. In January 2022, he joined Nankai University as an Associate Professor (accelerated appointment) and was promoted to Full Professor (by exception) in December 2024. His research excellence has been recognized by prestigious national programs, including the National Youth Talent Support Program (2023) and the National High-level Youth Talent Program (2024).


He is a highly decorated scholar, having received the Academic Rising Star award from Tsinghua University (top 10 university-wide) and numerous national scholarships. His commitment to mentorship has led his students to be awarded the National Scholarship (9 times), the Ten Outstanding Students of Nankai, and the ZHOU Enlai Scholarship (the most prestigious student honor at Nankai University, named in memory of the university’s most illustrious alumnus, Premier ZHOU Enlai, the first Premier of the People's Republic of China and a globally respected statesman).



Research Interests

His research lies at the intersection of Machine Learning, Statistical Modeling, and Bioinformatics. He is dedicated to developing advanced computational methods to decipher complex multi-omics data and provide insights into life sciences.
